Our family owned and operated nursery has been in business for over 29 years. Located in Camas, Washington (approximately 15 minutes from Vancouver and only 30 minutes from Portland) we specialize in a variety of annuals, perenniels, and a small selection of shrubs, herbs, and vegetables.

One of the features we are most proud of at our nursery is our basket making station. Bring up your used container baskets and we will plant them for you right at the nursery. It's a great way to get more use out of your hanging baskets, plus you won't worry about trying to judge how many plants you'll need to fill your container. Haven't we all been there before? You carefully select the number of plants you'll need only to arrive home and realize you have too many or too few. Our trained staff will be able to assist you with any questions you may have when selecting your plants such as color choices, sun tolerance, trailing habit, blooming/deadheading, etc. We offer this planting service for free every year which is just another way that the Arai Nursery strives to earn your business.

Linda has been working at the Arai Nursery for many seasons. She is a tremendous help and we are very lucky to have her! Each year she helps customers' plant container baskets they've brought to the nursery, which can be a very busy and vigorous job especially during opening weekend. She comes up each weekend with a smile, ready to work. It makes it a pleasure to be planting with her.

Featured Employee : Licorice

Licorice has been a part of the Arai Nursery for the past twelve years. His main job at the nursery is security. He protects the plants and greenhouses not just during nursery season but also on the off-season. During May Licorice helps make sure that plants travel safely to customer's cars. Currently Licorice has been training other security dogs who can also be seen helping out at the nursery. While they lack Licorice's vast expertise, he feels that one day they will be ready to take the reins.

This year the Arai Nursery is introducing miniature apple trees. Smaller than dwarf varieties, Columnar Apple trees are able to be grown in patio pots. Ideal for small spaces, these trees remain compact only growing 2 feet wide. It is possible for these trees to get as tall as 10 feet, so pruning is recommended. Don't let their compact nature fool you, these plants produce full size apples and should bear fruit two years after planting. Columnar apples perform best in full sun conditions. If you are looking for something a little different for your deck or patio this summer, try one of our Columnar Apple varieties.
